§ 2-368. Established; membership and appointments of organization; meetings.

  • There is hereby established a historical commission for the village, which shall be called the Old Velasco/Surfside Beach Historical Commission and shall consist of seven members, one of whom shall be selected by the members as the chairman. The first three members shall be appointed for two-year terms and the fourth and fifth members shall be appointed for one-year terms and thereafter for two-year terms. The fifth and sixth members shall be appointed for two-year terms. Hereafter, all regular terms shall end in the month of August of the respective odd or even years of appointment. The members are eligible for reappointment by the city council at the expiration of their term and vacancies will be filled by the city council. Meetings shall be on a regular basis to be determined by the commission, which shall not be less than quarterly. Special meetings may be held as required. All meetings shall be open to the public and follow an agenda pursuant to the Open Meetings law, V.T.C.A., Government Code ch. 551, as now or hereafter amended. Records shall be maintained of all meetings and the commission will give an annual written report to the city council on the status of all activities and accomplishments of the historical commission.
